The Pervomaisky district is located on the river Chulym (the Ob tributary) in the north-east of Tomsk region, 110 kms far away from Tomsk.

In the east the district borders on Teguldetsky, in the south – on Asinovsky and Zyryansky, in the west - on Asinovsky and Molchanovsky districts, in the north it has a common boundary with Verhneketsky district.

The administrative center of Pervomaisky district is the village of Pervomaiskoe. The total area of this district is 1 555 418 hectars.

The structure of Pervomaisky district comprises 6 settlements which include 45 populated areas.

20 583 people live on its territory by the time of 1 november 2005.

There is timber, agricultural, building and road-constructive enterprises. People grow rye, wheat, oat, pea, flax, sunflower and corn for silage, potatoes and vegetables. They breed cattle, pigs, sheep. The apiculture is developed. Pervomaiskoe is one of the oldest villages of Tomsk region. It has celebrated the 400th anniversary.
